The country of Chile is filled with adventure and amazing
attractions that will leave you breathless. This country,
found on the west coast of South America, is wild and rugged
and yet at the same time has a soft elegance that makes it a
target for tourists everywhere.

The nature that can be found in Chile is breathtaking. If
you love adventure you won't be disappointed as you view
craggy mountains, deserted beaches, overgrown forests, and
spouting geysers. For the less adventurous there is the
magnetism of the urban city of Santiago, with its population
of five million.

Many consider Chile as one of the less popular countries in
South America. On the contrary, Chile has a very robust
European background, because of which it has become a very
important tourist destination for westerners. Some areas of
Santiago have a Parisian touch, especially in art,
architecture and music.

Arts and literature are an important part of the culture of
Chile. The Nobel Prize for literature has been awarded
twice to citizens of Chile, first by poet Gabriela
Mistral, and second by another poet, Pablo Neruda. Music
is a central part of the life of the people of Chile. Folk
music has long been the release in which the people of
Chile have been able to express their feelings about an
oppressive military coup that occurred in 1973.

On your visit to Chile, don't just limit yourself to
spending time in Santiago. Besides Santiago, there are
other cities that are lovely and thriving. Don't forget to
check out the nearby islands. One such island, Chiloe, is
only thirty-one miles wide and 112 miles long, but is a
beacon of incredible beauty. You can reach Chiloe via a
ferry from the mainland. The island is home to several
small villages and towns. The inhabitants of these
villages build their homes on stilts due to the rain that
falls in this area. Don't forget to bring your camera.
You'll want pictures to remember the breathtaking site of
volcanoes on the mainland that can be seen from this island
paradise.

If you are looking for adventure, check out the Torres del
Paine National Park. This park, located in southern Chile,
is known as a biosphere park. It contains wonderful views
of waterfalls and glaciers, and a unique opportunity to
wander through dense and mysterious forests.

For a befitting end to your busy day, select and relish from
a variety of Chilean cuisine ranging from seafood, beef,
fruits, and vegetables. "Empanadas", is a well known snack
food available on the streets of Chile and comes with a
variety of fillings. Another snack food which is known to
the westerns as the corn tamales is the "humitas", which is
very delicious and deserves a try.

Chileans favorite and staple food is the bread, and
therefore a bread lover can have a variety of breads to
choose from. The potato bread is the most preferred among
Chileans. Lomo a lo pobre is the most popular meal of the
Chileans and the tourists as well. Lomo a lo pobre is
prepared with a large piece of beef with two fried eggs on
top of it and served with chips.

Chile is a land filled with fun and excitement. It's an
amazing part of the world to visit and sightsee.
