A Scuba Diving Gift

Shopping for an eccentric holiday or birthday present?
Consider purchasing some pre-paid scuba diving lessons.
Naturally, this gift is not for just anyone and should
only be considered for those loved ones with a penchant for
adventure. It would probably be a good idea that the
intended recepient be a good swimmer and have an interest
in scuba diving before making the purchase.
Price the scuba diving lessons. A purchase of four lessons
should not only pay for the lessons themselves but also
some extras as well. First, be certain that the instructor
is a certified, professional diver. It is always a good
idea to check references so see if the instructor has other
clients. Unless the intended recipient has their own gear,
determine if the price of the lessons includes equipment
rental. See if liablility insurance is included in the
price as well, in case of accident. Should sickness or an
emergency arise, ask if rescheduling is possible.
Hopefully your friend will be able to take their lessons in
a body of clean water that is safe from danger. It would
be unfortunate were your friend forced to take their
lessons in a polluted water that is plagued by dangerous
predators and riddled with frequent riptides. Another
thing you will want to consider is the timing of the
lessons because if your friend gets off from work at 3 p.m.
with an hour drive to the site where the lessons are given,
it probably isn't a good idea to have them set up for 4p.m.
lessons. A simple but very unavoidable traffic jam could
cost them part of their lesson. You will also want to ask
the instructor if they are willing to start lessons late.
If not, part of a lesson will be forfeited due to unforseen
tardiness.
It is a good idea to be sure that there is no sales
component to the lessons. If you were given a great deal
on those five lessons, make sure that part of that bargain
did not include the instructor trying to sell your friend
on the latest line of scuba gear. Are they going to try
and sell more lessons are maybe even a boat as part of this
deal? Be sure that the gift only involves the lessons
themselves because you wouldn't want your friend to be
inconvenienced by further commitments and obligations.
Unique and potentially life-changing, scuba diving lessons
can make for a great gift. Don't waste your money on
someone unlikely to use them. They should be given to a
person with a thirst for adventure and new challenges.
Make sure you check the gift out thoroughly, including
whether or not a refund is possible should your friend be
unwilling or even unable to make use of your generosity.
