A business operating airplanes for the purpose of
moving people and material for profit is called an airline.
Airlines are owned by many different types and groups of
people including. Owners may be a government, a company or
even a single person. Airline companies own or lease
airplanes to move people and cargo to make money. Airlines
often times form allies with other companies to aid in
providing this service. The aircraft airlines operate come
in many different types including balloons, helicopters
and jet airplanes. An airline may have 100's of aircraft
of all types flying all around the world or may be just
one airplane. Airlines are either domestic, regional,
national, intercontinental or international carriers. The
service provided fall into oneof the following categories:
Commercial Aviation
In their commercial aviation services these airlines offer
transportation of passengers, cargo and air mail postal
services to the consumers. These commercial enterprises
allow large numbers of people, goods and mails to be
quickly transported from one place to another for profit.
These airlines offer a variety of services designed to meet
people's transportation needs. In cargo postal services
they allow consumers to book and send air mail and other
parcels through air transport services. In passenger
service they schedule flights to destinations such as New
York, Georgetown, Singapore, New Delhi, London and other
parts of the world. In cargo services they offer air
transport service for many types and sizes of shipments.

automobiles and printed materials. Commercial airlines such
as American Airlines, British Airways, Royal Brunei,
Lufthansa, Virginia and Singapore Airlines facilitate
passenger transportation while airlines such as DHL, Blue
Dart and Delta Airlines operate cargo and air mail
transportation.
General aviation
General aviation includes private owned aircrafts,
helicopters, personal charter services, business houses
aircrafts. The basic difference between commercial and
general aviation is that general aviation planes are not
used for the purpose of earning profits. These planes are
used for recreational flying, flight training, shipping,
surveying, medical evacuation, agricultural application,
air taxi, company chartered tourism, charter passenger
service, corporate flying, emergency transport, off-shore
logistics, policing, firefighting and other purposes.
Aerial warfare
Aircraft involved in aerial warfare provide services and
support to the military. They perform important logistical
missions including moving troops for the military as well
as navy. All airlines are involved in at least one of these
categories and fulfill an important demand for their
customers. The airline industry depends on these demands
that range from moving people for leisure to evacuating
somone in a forest fire.
